Ellie has a strong background in dispute resolution in the context of family law. Before commencing with Williams Winter in July 2014, she worked for a number of well-known family law firms. Prior to beginning a career as a lawyer, Ellie worked as a social worker.
Ellie completed a Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne university in 1976 and undertook further studies shortly afterwards, completing a Graduate Diploma in Criminology. A desire to support her clients throughout their entire family law dispute led Ellie to start her legal studies in 1999. She undertook a law degree at La Trobe University and was admitted to practice in 2004.
Prior to commencing at Williams Winter, Ellie was a partner at Hogg and Reid where she practised both Collaborative Law – a method of resolving disputes in a cooperative manner rather than through the court system – and litigation. Her extensive experience includes intervention orders, children’s matters as well as property settlements.
Ellie joined Williams Winter as a Senior Associate and, together with Ellen Gutman, is continuing to develop the firm’s family law department. Ellie’s experience in social welfare, together with her strong empathy, ensures that she understands her client’s needs and strives to achieve successful outcomes on their behalf.
